Mission Motorsport fundraiser

Mission Motorsport

I’m taking on the Race of Remembrance at Anglesey circuit on 8/9th November 2025 to raise money for Mission Motorsport, the Forces’ Motorsport Charity.

My racing costs are already covered by my existing partners. Your donation will go straight to Mission Motorsport, net of deductions made by the Crowdfunder platform.

Uncle Ron

By participating in the Race of Remembrance, I’ll be honouring the memory of my great-great-uncle Ron, who did not come home.

The inscription on the memorial at St Stephen’s Church in Canterbury – where I was christened – reads:

FLIGHT ENGINEER SGT R.A.F.V.R. RONALD DAVID JOHN CAMPBELL CARLING, AGED 23 YEARS. MISSING FROM OPERATIONS OVER MARQUISE ON THE NIGHT OF 27TH AND 28TH JUNE 1944. IN THE DEFENCE OF SOUTHERN ENGLAND, HE WORTHILY UPHELD THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE SERVICE.

Uncle Ron is also remembered by a plaque in the reception area at my former school, Simon Langton Grammar School for Boys, where he was a pupil. Both my brother Alex and I are proud to have followed him there.

What is the Race of Remembrance?

Initially conceived as just a track day, the idea evolved, and the charity, alongside a committed army of volunteers, was able to stage an endurance race with a memorial service in November; the Race of Remembrance was born.

The 12-hour endurance race is run through the night over two days, providing on-the-job training opportunities and driving experience. The Service of Remembrance remains at the heart of the event; the race is suspended for a special pit lane service on Remembrance Sunday.

In 2025, over 50 teams and 150 drivers are expected to participate.
